There are some good areas early but the problem is alot of that area can freeze up alot quicker than other places and you are stuck to hunting fields for geese and rivers only for ducks. Not always bad though sticking to the fields for geeseB)
Are you moving to Hermiston?

I have a friend that lives there, going to visit in June, and looking for a place to live in the next 2 years.
I confess to being a duck hunting addict

The Boardman area around Hermiston is where most of the duck hunting is in that area as well as Ladd Marsh. But, like I said the weather can be brutal compared to the valley and its not quite the same hunting as it is over on this side of the state. I take that back, Boardman can be amazing, but the system to hunt that refuge is a joke, I think.

Boardman has a great supply of Greenheads, BUT!, like I said those birds can come and go pretty quick with the wicked weather right through there.
If you want lots of Canadas and lots of greenheads, move to Eastern Washington!

Craig, to be truly honest NOTHING in Oregon is really the same. Sauvie Island has changed drastically more in the past 5 years than it ever has, and other areas I hunt have changed not only from the amount of uneducated hunters but the amount of uneducated people around the hunters. I.E. farmers/people hazing fields killing hunters, disrespectful people abusing rights to fields, etc... Its all changed and I think to be honest not alot is being changed for the better.
