Ok went down to Memphis a few weeks ago and worked with Buck in tuning up a new Kryptonite. One thing that Buck pointed out is this call requires a different hand position on a hail call. Buck suggested using a c shaped instead of open hand. This is the first call I have ever owned that hand position makes a huge difference on hail calls. Can the current owners of Kryptonites give me a few pointers on hand positions for this call. Is this more of a double handed call than a single handed. Thanks in advance for the insight.

It has been my personal experience that tuning with this call is crucial!
Length of the reed has to be dead on the money but once you find the sweet spot look out!!!
Keep that reed for a pattern to use there after...
However I do not dog ear my reeds because in this call it makes it shattery and unstable which really made hand position critical on the hails.
I have found for me personally this dose not in any way take away from the bottom end.
This type of tuning has made it forgiving, as far as hand position ....

I hope this helps you....

Have you ever cut the reed at an angle instead of cutting it strait across. What I mean by this is finding the sweet spot then cutting a new reed with one side on the sweet spot then measuring a 16th to 32nd inch higher on the other side and cutting an angle from high side to low side. I have not tried this with this call yet but I want to try it. I agree about the dog ear. Just don't have extra reeds yet. Also met with Buck again last night and talked to him about how much air this call takes. What are some ways to exercise so I can start blowing this call and not run out of air as quick. Thanks for the insight.

Never tried that angle to the dangle cut ...
The only thing is build your diaphragm up by practice practice practice.... Cheesy
It should not be that hard to blow check your tuning sounds like it may be tuned a bit stiff...
Hope that helps...
