Sure you can keep a positive mental attitude talk to the guys that are winning get them to listen to your routine. Take the advice from the critique make the adjustment and try it again!
Perseverance is the name of the game but when you get in the winner circle stay humble and return the favor to the next up and coming!

shane, do you know who this was calling ?nice job there, this sounded like a meat routine to me.not sure of anyone elses opinion.was this from the easton contest?there are several contests for youth in arkansas i believe, including several classes of female competitors there.
someday with the lords blessing we will get my daughter there.she has called in several contests this year already.
she recently got a new call from buck gardner and a new canada hammer 2 from buck and shawn stahl.both were engraved.she has been using the duck call several times a week now in preperation for some upcoming contests and some possible upcoming events here.

Yellow dog,

Live duck contest differ from meat in the sense that when you are on stage you are trying to replicate the sounds of a flock of mallards sitting on the water.  Where as in meat you are blowing a routine that has to consist of a greeting call, feed call, comeback call, laydown call.  It is a little more structured.  In Live duck its really a freestyle.  Dont get me wrong.  These guys have a routine down in there head when they get on stage but the structure of the routine is completly up to them.  Some guys start out with feeding calls some start out with single quacks.  Anything you want to do as long as you sound like a bunch of ducks.  At the World Live Duck in Easton they actually play a sound clip of a flock of live ducks before each contest blows their routine to remind the caller and the judges of what is being asked.
