A friend of mine had a English Setter it was a very rangey dog. In other words he like to be a long ways out in front of us when we hunted. I think most of that was poor training though. Are you looking for a dog for upland bird hunting?

I've owned a couple of English Setters. They were both very good dogs. The first one ranged a little far but that was my fault in the training process. The second one ranged medium range. She was a great dog. They were both had very good temperments and were great aroung the kids. The only reason I don't have one now is the quail numbers in Missouri went way down and my last dog got out of her kennel and never came back so I just never replaced her.

do you have a lot of turkeys in your area. the reason i ask is we have had a huge boom in our turkey population around here and our quail numbers are steadily dropping. someone told me turkey will kill and destroy quail and pheasant nests.
