RNT G2 splitting

I have an RNT G2 call made of wood.  I love this call, bought it in the late summer of 2007.

Was in the field Saturday and had some geese working us for a few minutes.  As I was blowing it ... my face was getting sprayed with wet stuff.  Upon closer examination I noticed the mouth piece has a split down it and spit was squirting out.

I have never dropped, stepped or done anything to this call as far as I can recall.  I don't know if it happened from going from warm air to cold air or what.  Anybody have any experience with wood calls splitting?

Is there anything that I should put on my other calls to keep them from splitting?  (Oils, etc.)

I had a foiles meatgrinder do that to me one time and not sure why. Its wasnt a wooden call but still dont know why it did that.

I have had the same thing happen to me a few times.   Mainly with a few of my hedge calls. They still sound fine, but do leak some air! Im not sure what the permanite fix is, but I just used some super glue and it seemed to seal up ok.

Thanks for the super glue idea.  I never even thought about that.

I did go to RNT's website and they said they would fix it at no charge, except I need to pay shipping and fees to and from and I think I read somewhere on their website that it could take up to 10 weeks.

I would advise against super glue,it is too brittle.you may want to try an epoxy

That is some good advise, I guess never thought about how brittle super glue is.
If my cracks reopen I will use epoxy as well!

I was even thinking about wood glue, but that would probably crack too, now that you mention it.


I'll do the epoxy.
