My son and I are just getting started in goose hunting and were wondering what was the best call for someone on a limited budget.  I've been duck hunting for several years now, but have never been goose hunting.  Can anyone out there give me some suggestions?

I started on the Canada HammerII from Buck Gardner. I think its was around $20.00. Very easy to learn to blow.

Hey Griz,

Another easy to blow and you can get a cheap plastic model is the Power Clucker made by Zink calls.  If you get the plastic version, again like the Buck Gardner call already mentioned ... it will run you about $20.00.

I have a 3 year old that can almost blow this call.  He's not totally there yet but getting close.

Hey Big Griz,

Did you ever end up purchasing a call?  If so, what did you get?  And do you like it?

A good friend of mine gave me a RNT Quakehead Goozilla as a gift that that he had hand tuned and shaven the reed on for me.  He is a 2-time state calling champion here in OK, and he can flat make it sound good.

It seems to be a pretty good call to start with and then as I get better, I may move up to somehting a little more expensive and nicer.  For now, I have been watching/listening and practicing with some videos I found on YouTube that were made by the goose hunting Pro-Staff member from Gun Dogs online.  The videos are broken down into 3 levels so that as you master one level, you can move up to add more variation.

You got yourself a pretty decent call in my book, my brother got one of those this past fall.

The goozilla call has pretty good sound, infact the guts are the same as the RNT G2 call that I have on my lanard.

Best to you on learning how to blow it.

John
