I just have to jump in here and add one more verse to kind of take this discussion a little further. This verse has literally been on my heart for about a week now.
Psalm 22:3 this passage talks of God inhabiting the praises of His people.
It starts in our heart. The minute we accept His gift of salvation, the minute we confess that Jesus is Lord, God's prescence is in and on us. We must like David, make steps to grow in the Lord. David was called "a man after God's own heart". Yes he still screwed up. He took and slept with another man's wife, he had the man killed when he found out that she was pregnant. But God still called him a man after God's own heart. God was with him, and set him apart, because (even though at times, he screwed up royally and sinned) he came before his God and King and confessed, and yearned to grow in his relationship with God.
It is like any relationship, a two way street. As you draw nearer to God, He will draw nearer to you. When we worship, (sing praises, sing for joy, and just tell God of how great He really is) He will draw nearer to you. We can all start, like darstormas1 said, and allow God to be a part of every aspect of our lives. And when we do that, stand back, cause your gonna be different, you and the people around you will see as Moses said, his prescence among (you) will set you apart. And that is a great thing.
