I’ve been going through the Bad Grammer DVD in the last 3days (much to my wife’s disgust - she is threatening to buy me bagpipes!!!)
And Scott has said that using the tip of the tongue is the way to go in his calling, is this a good point?
June last year I had the Straight talk CD  of Shawn Stahl and Buck Gardner that come with Canada Hammer call I got from Cabela’s (which got stolen out of my truck a few mouths back Cry) am I right in remembering that not using the tip of the tongue to shut off your air was better?
1; are there different theories on how to hold and use the tongue in the mouth
2; what are the pro’s and con’s if any

Ps I’ve got myself a Tim Grounds “The Real Thang” call and am starting to like it a lot

Yes there are different theories.

My opinion is that Scott's theory with the tip makes a cleaner note.  But I find with the back of my tongue, I can go faster.  In all honesty, when I am in the field ... I use both methods and mix them in with my calling.  Don't ask me why, that's just how I do it until I see a bird respond to a note, then I zero in on that sequence or note(s) until I can pull them in.

My suggestion to you, try to learn both ways.  Concentrate on one way now until you get it down then move onto the other way.  Remember, your trying to get the sounds down correctly over speed when you are starting out.  We want to sound as real as we can get.  Once you get the sounds down correctly with quality, then speed will come.

Again, this is my opinion from my experience, I'm sure others on this board can weigh in with their thoughts on the subject.

My final advice, listen to all advice, try the different methods, find what works for you and then exploit that method.

I' hope others will chime in here on this as I'd be interested in what they do too.
