Ok you MN folks just had your opener lets here your reports.......
For MN native
Cory Viertels
group of dedicated waterfowlers the report is in for the Hwy 65 region in northern MN....
Cory being a local
competitave sporting clays shooter
and outstanding wing shot gave me there daily report live via cell phone..
He said the weather seemed to be premium for the opener but the action in this region was slow for them with just a few Mallards harvested from two different bodies of water.
Now folks lets hear your MN report you dont have to give away spots but just the region you were hunting in..
Thanks ahead of time for your contributuions to "Reports From The Field" !

Terrible bird numbers in and around the metro area. We are usually shooting piles of teal and woodies right now and have yet to shoot a teal and today we bagged our first pair of woodies. Its like we are in that lull we usually get around 3rd weekend where our locals are shot out and we are waiting for our northern birds exept we started the season off in the lull.
Opening we killed 3 mallards and saw maybe 20 ducks, monday was the same as far as number of birds seen exept we shot zero birds. Today we killed 8 on a cow pond that was holding maybe 20 birds, we only ended up seing 9 and killed 8 of them 3 of wich were wigeons wich was really cool to get on this side of the state. Hopefully with the weather on its way this weekend it will push some birds down and it will be time to get serious.
However there is no shortage of geese, if you were to spend a day or 2 scouting you should be able to come up with a hot field to hunt.
