Pretty good opening morning on Sat. We shot alot of holes in the sky and only managed eight wooducks. But the dog caught a cripple out of the air. That was pretty cool. Sunday field hunted clear no wind and warmed up really fast the geese never really showed up. but we managed to get one close enough. More ducks around here than normal but still nothing to write home about yet. We shot four mallards and three wooducks. Tough shooting woodies out of a layout blind.

Congrats. Sounds like it was still a good time. The "shooting woodies out of a layout made me laugh". 1) because I have trouble shooting any duck out of layout blinds and 2) because I have trouble shooting woodies when I am standing up. Wink

Things have been pretty slow here in Indiana. We get a few bird and then things freeze up and they are gone the next day. We dont have much flooded ground and whats there is frozen now. We did have maybe our best shoot ever last Tuesday a five man limit on mallards in around an hour. I would post the pics but I cant figure out how to. Alot of guys complaining about the hunting being the worst ever. It is what you make it. I just think you have to keep your head up and scout your tail off. We had only shot one duck up until Tues. Anyway maybe things will get good here soon. Good luck to all!

Camo 2006,

Thanks for the pics.

Our waterfowl season just opened back up her yesterday.  Took a party out yesterday morning, hunted a corn field and only saw 5 flocks off in the distance.  Took my four year old out to a bean field last night.  The birds flew okay but nothing remotely near to our set up the closest birds being about 2 miles away.

There just doesn't seem to be as many birds in the area yet in regards to both ducks and geese.  Big storm headin up the coast coming right at us.  This evening should be good but I will be forced to gear up for snow removal.

I'll post some pics of yesterday's hunt another time as I left my camera at home.
