Well folks here is my tip for todays hunting dog owners:
Have you ever had a job where you stood on concrete all day and had to have special shoes to do so or rubber mats at your work stations?
Well the same applies for our faithful 4 legged hunting companions that are kenneled outside.
Kennels are usally placed on a concrete slab to prevent digging and for easy clean up. Well our hunting dogs have more time put in standing on concrete than we would ever have. Think of the effects this has on there body being as they have no special shoes for the task.
This could be a large contributor to joint related health problems late in life.
So here is a great tip !
We can still poor slabs as the foundation and a level surface.....
You then go to your local farm supply store and aquire horse stall rubber mats in the appropriate size and lay them the entire length on top of the concrete slab.
These mats can be bought in various thicknesses the thicker the more protection choose according to your budget....
These mats also provide a surface that is easy to clean that dose not collect or hold bacteria and smell from urine or fecies in the material itself....
Ocassionally lift the mats and clean underneath with bleach water solution about 5% should do it....
This cushion will make it easier on your dogs joints long term into there retirement especially...
