So many times the pit of hell tries to rob us of joy, peace and prosperity of soul through false accusations concerning our true Identity in Christ.
If indeed you are saved, born again(spiritually reborn) and truley in Christ with the spirit of adoption affirming you are in the family of God through Christ....
The pit dose this when we make mistakes in moments of weakness , when we lose sight of our new identity and while not yet firmly grounded in this , we revert back to the old thought patterns ,memories or actions of our former indentity- (adamic or fallen identity)the old man.
Hence we must be renewed in the spirit of our mind or soul (mind ,will & emotions) according to the word of God concerning our new identity in Christ.

Ephesians 4:22-24 (New King James Version)
22 that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, 23 and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, 24 and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.

When our soul(mind will & emotions) become one with this new nature the old loses it's hold  .
This battle for the mind goes on in the midst of God  transforming us inwardly to be Christ like in heart.
Taking on the image of His son more clearly for the world to see and beleive by the examples of our transformed lives...

At the same time we must not let God grace be a cloak for vice where we willfully sin and saying  "oops well God knows my heart"

1 Peter 2:15-17 (New King James Version)
15 For this is the will of God, that by doing good you may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men— 16 as free, yet not using liberty as a cloak for vice, but as bondservants of God. 17 Honor all people. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the king.

God has big plans for our lives that will come to fruation as we become one with our New Identity in Christ we then will not use God plans to apease our own flesh but instead for the Glory of His Kingdom alone..

Thus honoring the King of Kings

JESUS
