The Lord showed me this message for our Christian walk as I was watching a video clip for being Dog trainer . It paralleled with learning to be a disciple of Christ. There are Phases of becoming a dog trainer, just as there are phases in our walk with the master
of training if you will (Jesus).
The first Phase is getting saved and turning your life over to the lord and understanding you are not in control of your own life and have no understanding of the spiritual.
You see men and women operating in the things of God and you wonder how will I ever do those things. This point is where you are wide open and receptive to all sources of info with in the body of Christ, because you know you know nothing! You are a babe in Christ hungry and thirsty for knowledge..
Proverbs 2 Benefits of Wisdom
1 My son, if you accept my words
and store up my commands within you,
2 turning your ear to wisdom
and applying your heart to understanding,
3 and if you call out for insight
and cry aloud for understanding,
4 and if you look for it as for silver
and search for it as for hidden treasure,
5 then you will understand the fear of the LORD
and find the knowledge of God.
Then there is Phase two where a lot of people die and this is where they stay and get stuck!
You have learned knowledge and you have had some success in the things of the Lord! You probably did some things right and came to know some things but now we become unreceptive to any information or counsel. This is where you are just dishing out information because You know it all?. We get stuck here until brokenness or we become backslidden and fall away or become a bitter Christian! Insecurities keep us from realizing we are in this stage for fear of feeling less than after having a taste of success! This being a lie from the pit of hell we must become less that he may become more.
John 3:30He must become greater; I must become less.
This is not degradation but taking the permanent position of a student making you a disciple and lover of the Lord and not of self or selfish ambition..
This being the path of true growth that we all must walk.
Phase three is when you become an effective apostle, prophet, pastor, evangelist, teacher or _________ you fill in the blank! This is the phase were you realize nobody knows it all and you can gather information from anywhere as the lord speaks through whom or what he wills. You realize you can never know it all and you do not have all the answers.
It is just the way it is and you become receptive again through God frustrating your intellect and using the furnace of affliction to ground you again to dependency on Him!
This is not being imprisoned but being liberated by the hand of God from self sabotage of being
destroyed by pride ,insecurities and being self centered or full of selfish ambition.
Hosea 4:66. My people are
destroyed for lack of knowledge.
Because you have rejected knowledge,
I also will reject you from being priest for Me;
Then after being humbled by this experience you are in the learning mode again humble open and teachable.
The scripture below is the scriptural definition of a teachable spirit.
Matthew 18:4 (New King James Version)4 Therefore whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
Phase three is a life long pursuit till the Lord calls you home!
