Saturday morning we made our way out to a corn field.  Last time I scouted this area, which was sunday the week before, there were about 500 geese in the field.

As we set up the spread, we noticed that the field has pretty much been picked clean by the birds.  Weather was in the upper 20''s with a slight north, north west breeze, which gave us the opportunity to hunt the pit in this field.

With about 9 dozen full bodied goose decoys deployed on the frozen ground the wait of the birds commute was occupied with the taunts, and good ''ole fun that guys have when they get together.

We had a single goose flying over head after sun up.  He was sky high and really not interested in us, although we were very interested in him and we were throwing everything we had in our calls at him.  With all of our attention on this loan bird, my brother shouts, "DUCKS" as a flock of ducks about 10 feet off the ground blew over our hole.  Just as quickly as we noticed them, they were out of range.  With a few quacks on the call, they turned.  The 6 ducks turned down wind from the hole and deployed their landing gear and started to drop in.  I yelled take ''em and we took two birds from the flock.  Don''''t know where they came from, but we were glad they stopped by.

That was the only action that morning with very little geese in the air.

This hunt reminds me that our human thoughts can not compare to the thoughts of the Creator and ruler of the Universe.  As we were so focused on geese, had only geese decoys set out, and we were zeroed in on the goose over head, we could have really missed out on the ducks.  We as children of God, need to be obedient and open to what He has for us.  Even when we don''t understand what He is doing and sometime it''s not necessarly what we think we need to be doing or what we want to be doing.

In Isaiah 55: 8-9 God tells us that "For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts."

Make sure my friends that your focus is on God and He will direct you with His pure and perfect way because His way and His thoughts are so much higher, then we could imagine.
