Well, the atlantic population goose season closed on Jan. 29th.  Due to the high population of non-migrating canada geese in Far western Maryland goose season continues in these areas until March 5th.

I received a call from a friend of mine stating that he had a place to go in western maryland and that the place was holding a ton of birds.

We packed up tuesday morning and made the hour and a half drive to far western maryland.  We set up in a horse pasture and about 7:30 to 9:30 it was game on.  Great flights of geese that came wave after wave.  It made for an enjoyable hunt with a lot of action.  Not to mention the great time with a friend.  Should of had one or two more to add, but your''s truly wiffed on one flock that came in.

We also had a ton of mallards doing fly-by''s but unfortunately duck season ended on the 29th.

I think a little bit of both.  Nothing like talking goose and making them dive bomb into the spread.

It''s my main call.  I pretty much use it the most.  If I''m not grabbing any attention, after throwing everything I know at them, I switch to the super mag and go down the line.

Great job, John. it is cool to see that kind of success, God truly blessed you that day.  I am looking forward to getting a ground call this year, which one do you like the best?  Do you run anything else?  What is the limit for resident geese out there?  Ours is five but they only let us hunt them in early fall.  Sept 1-15.

Feel Free to throw those pick on Fowl Days

Mike, I like the super thang the best.  But i do have a couple of other calls.  I think Tim Ground''s Calls fit me the best right now.  You will find that they take a little more air then a lot of other brands.

I do have some Zink, Buck Gardner, Sean Mann and Get ''Em Locked Up calls in my arsenal.

Limit for resident birds is 5 in Maryland.  The season is state wide from Sept 1 to the 15th like yours.  Then after January 29th (when the AP Season closes, Atlantic Population) the western side of Maryland stays open till March 5th with a daily harvest limit of 5 per gun.

It sure would be great to have that late season, with the warm up there are birds everywhere that have been lying low for the last week or two.  It would be nice to get out there and create extra habitat for those that make it through.  And I need more jerky meat!
