For Central Maryland, the bulk of the migration for Canada geese has stopped.  I am seeing good numbers of resident canada goose pairs along creeks, ponds and other areas both in the rural and suburban areas.  Saw one goose sitting on a nest this morning.

Have been seeing a few pairs of Black Ducks, Mallards, and Woodies over the last week as well.

Temps in the low 60''''s during the day and down to just above freezing at night.  Lots of standing water as we have been getting weekly rain events that have dumped close to 4 inches thus far this month.  This month averages annually around 3.9 inches and we look to receive a few more rain events before the end of this month.  A lot of trees have their buds swelling and a few are just coming into the beginning stages of bloom this week.

All this said, if things continue to progress as they have been going, I think (and I am no wildlife biologist) that we will be seeing good broods in our area this summer.

Trout season opens this coming saturday.  I have also been seeing a few turkeys around the house, but they are not that plentiful here.  No strutting has been observed by me yet.

There are tons of paired ducks and geese around here as well, looks like a good fall.  Been working on the bad grammer cd in the van while I''m on the road I got all the sounds down now all I have to do is put it in sequence.
