I''m a little new on here and just have 2 waterfowl seasons under my belt here in Minnesota.

I got  my first  chance to hunt the spring Snow geese last weekend in Aberdeen SD with a fellow CFC -

What a hoot!  The geese were piled up south of the snow line there. Each farming field where the birds sit are a couple miles wide and long surrounded by a pressed dirt/pea gravel roads. I swear some fields held 50,000 birds and some held unestimable many more  birds. One can hunt all roads/roadbeds  in South Dakota.  And most fields even  have  some crossing roadbeds for drainage and farmer access. Some farmers will let you have further access for geese/ducks- just not pheasants

BUT-- all the birds sat in the dang middle of the field and spooked like blackbirds in a tree. When they goy up it was like birds scattering in  scene from Out of Africa. They would tornado like a swarm of bees. We were pass shooting in the AM/PM from whatever wherever  hide we could find that might be in their path in the right wind.  The birds  seemed to know that if they flew over at 70+ yards high  they were safe --- and they were for the most part.

The decoying outfitters of course did better than us -- but we went for fun and to learn. We did get 8 Snows - 2 rosses.  Anyway - maybe more CFC members will want to come next year
