When you are forcing or blowing the air into the call to make a sound either low or high.  Do you stop and start the airflow with the front of your tongue or farther back in you throat.  I am trying to master the hiccup (correctly) where you are making the high/low combo sound really fast like a moan-cluck only faster, and I am getting hung us a little as I speed it up.  I don''t really no too many people that can do it right, most guys I hear just put some fast honks together, but what I am trying to do is two separate notes, we have all heard geese do it and they do it a lot! Anyway I an rambling, what do you guys use the front of the tongue or the back down in you throat?  Like tu-ta or guu-ga?

Mike,  I use both.

I use the back of my throat most times as I have more success with the birds responding.  I can do it faster this way then with my tounge.  When using my tounge, each note is more crisp and I am personnaly a lot slower with it.  Now with that said, it varies in the field as to what works from one day to the next.  I usually go through my arsenal of calling abilities and sounds until I get a response.

Now if your talking competition calling .... I will let someone else here answer as I don''t compete with people.  I am out there competing to get them locked up and in range.

Sounds like you want to do the cluck and moan sequence?
If so speed comes with repiticious practice as far as cutting notes off you will find the right spot when you use the reference words "Ick , aww , Ick , aww, Ick with voice inflection.

"Ick" produces the cluck and "aww" produces the moan....
Work on marrying the clucks on the front and back side of the moan to make it seamless which will give you the sound you are looking for.... . example  "ick, aww, ick, aww, ick" ect
Make sure your on hand is correct for back pressure and your off hand for tone also be sure to use voice inflection to pop each note this will prevent hang ups..

Hope this helps... Wink
