Hi All,
The WWA-NW will again be managing a youth hunt at the Nature Conservancy’s Port Susan Bay Preserve during the statewide September 24/25, Youth Waterfowl Hunt weekend, and we have some other opportunities for youngsters to get out duck hunting that weekend. Last year we had some really great decoy shooting on this property.
What we need are a few adult WWA chaperones for the two days, and some more kids to take hunting.
We have broken the day into three potential hunting “shifts” and have two blind locations, so can accommodate up to 6 hunting groups each day. The shifts are 6:25 am to 10:00, 10:31 to 2:30, and 3:00 to closing (7:10 pm), each day. All hunting shifts are first come-first served. We can accommodate up to two youth hunters and two adults per blind. Decoys will be provided at each blind. Hunters will need hip boots or chest waders and weather appropriate waterfowl hunting attire, a shotgun, and a box or two of shotgun shells.
The WWA-NW has a some boots, clothing, and guns available for a couple of hunters each shift if there is a need.
If you are able to help as a chaperone setting up hunters and providing support in the blind as needed, or can stay at the parking area as a host for a good portion of either day, let me know soon.
Most importantly, if you know of some youth hunters that need an opportunity, let me know.
