Yesterday was the Maryland Muzzleloader Season. I had elected to take anything with horns as my freezer is empty.
A bit on the windy side with temps in the upper 50''s I found that the wind was perfect to head to the stand that I wanted to go to. I had visited this stand the week earlier with my son and we jumped 6 deer that were laying under it when we walked up on it at mid day. After I had climbed the stand and was cleaning the leaves and sticks from the floor boards, I noticed a deer coming up the bean field. It came right in the woods and layed down 20'' from the ladder. My son and I pushed this doe out as we had places to go. My 6 year old son said ..."gonna get some meat this week."
So Thursday morning the wind was perfect and I navigated the uncut beans as quietly as possible and deployed some Buck Butter. A new scent that is made locally and was given to me by my friends at Real People Real Racks. I climbed the stand and was settled in by 5:30AM.
The sun came up and God''s Glory showed all around as I sat in the stand overlooking the bean field.

Then about 7:15 a deer came through the beans right to me on string. He came right to the buck butter. At 30 yards I pulled the trigger and off he ran about 100 to 125 yards and collapsed.
Small buck, but the freezer has meat.
