Short Reed Goose
calling 101: There has been a
progression in the type of goose calls used in the field as well as on the
contest stage. You have the traditional
long reed which your grandfathers and some dads used which made a low and a
high note and that's it. Then we had the flute style calls, some that had bells
on the end to produce backpressure for user friendly calling but it would limit
you on tonal qualities and pitch. The modified A-50 flute style calls came and
gave a major thrust to the sounds you could make on a goose call.
